FAQ

The questions women actually ask.

If yours is not here, write to us. We answer every email ourselves.

The basics

  • What is The WOM Challenge?

A unique endurance experience designed to empower women through sport, storytelling and solidarity. One morning, six named stages: The Rise, The Glide, The Forge, The Stride, The Reset and The Circle: yoga, a 4 km paddle, thirty minutes of strength, a 5 km run, an ice bath and a healthy breakfast. Solo or as a duo, and that choice is new for 2026.

We are building the multi-sport wellness challenge for women, designed from scratch rather than adapted from a men’s format.

  • Who can take part?

Any woman who wants to push her limits, and any woman who is not sure she can. All fitness levels are genuinely encouraged, and every edition so far has had both first-timers and seasoned athletes on the same beach.

You do not have to be ready. You just have to start.

  • How is this different from a normal race?

Connection over competition. There is a ranking, but the morning is not built around it: you can walk the run, share a board on the water, and nobody crosses the line on their own unless they want to.

And the format is built around female physiology rather than scaled down from a men’s event, which changes the distances, the recovery, and what we measure.

  • Can men take part?

Not as participants. The challenge is for women. Men are very welcome as volunteers, sponsors and cheerleaders, and there are always plenty of them at the finish line.

Taking part

  • Do I need a partner to register?

No, and this is new for 2026. Until this year The WOM was a duo challenge. From this edition you can enter solo or as a duo, and both are equally at home on the start line.

If you would rather do it with someone, bring your sister, your colleague, your best friend, your mother. And if you want a partner but do not have one, tell us when you register and we will introduce you to someone.

  • I have never been on a paddle board. Is that a problem?

No. Most participants have never paddled before their first WOM.

Boards, paddles and buoyancy aids are provided, there is a safety crew on the water for the whole leg, and you are welcome to kneel the entire loop rather than stand. Plenty do.

  • Do I need to be able to run 5 km?

No. Walking is allowed and expected, and there are water stops along the course.

If you would like to run it, we publish a free three-week 5K preparation plan: two hours a week, any level.

  • Is the ice bath compulsory?

Absolutely not. The recovery suite also has stretching, mobility and breathwork, and you can skip the ice entirely.

On the day

  • What time should I arrive?

Check-in opens at 05:30 and closes before the yoga session at 06:00. Come early, because the water leg runs to the tide, not to us.

  • What is included in my place?

Paddle equipment and safety cover, the coached strength session, water stops on the run, full access to the recovery zone including the ice bath, a healthy breakfast, your finisher medal, WOM headband and pink mark, plus event photography.

  • What should I bring?

Kit you do not mind getting wet, running shoes, a change of dry clothes, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses and a refillable water bottle.

  • What is the pink mark?

Pink under the eyes, applied at check-in, every event day. It is the moment a woman becomes one of us, and the reason WOM women recognise each other months later, in cities that are not this one.

Cause and community

  • Is there a charity element?

Yes. Steps taken equal support given: every edition supports causes that uplift women, and Pink October editions are dedicated to breast cancer awareness.

  • What happens after the event?

The challenge ends, the habits should not. WOM Mornings run across Dubai year-round, and Zero to Routine, a 60-day protocol for 30 women, is being built for January 2027.

Still not sure?

That is normal, and it is not a reason not to come. Write to us and ask anything. We would rather answer twenty questions than have you talk yourself out of it.
